In Memoriam: Professor Joseph H. Koffler

It is with great sadness that we report the loss of one of New York Law School’s legendary teachers, Professor Joseph H. Koffler, who died on November 13 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Professor Koffler was 85 years old.

Joseph Koffler was a 1943 graduate of the City College of New York. He earned his law degree from Harvard Law School in 1948. During his more than 50-year career at New York Law School, Professor Koffler influenced generations of students,as well as colleagues, who will never forget him. Professor Koffler’s final position, before he retired fully in 2003, was Emeritus Professor. In 2001, the Law School presented him with the Special Trustees Award in recognition of his more than half century of teaching and scholarship.

Professor Koffler is survived by his wife, Monica, his daughter Lynne, and three sisters.

Professor Koffler’s family asks that donations in his memory be made to the Joseph H. Koffler Scholarship Fund at New York Law School or to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation.
